Bernalillo County businesses to pay higher minimum wage

one week from today -- businesses in bernalillo county, outside of albuquerque .. will have to pay a higher minimum wage. maria guerrero spent the day in the east mountains, talking with businesses about the impact this will have on them. maria how are they going to handle it? nicole.. some .... simply aren't sure. while this increase aims at helping workers.. some businesses .. don't think it will :12-:17 & :59-1:11 1:25-1:35 if anyone knows the recipe for small business success... it's burger boy in cedar crest. " THIS 30 YEAR old staple in the east mountains anticipates a relavitely smooth transition into the county's new minimum wage.. it and about 14-hundred businesses in unincorporated areas of bernalillo county are impacted.. although many already pay more than 7-50 an hour. july first.. minimum wage will go up 50-cents. to 8- dollars an hour. then on january first 20-14.. it will go up another 50-cents to 8-50 an hour. co-owner barbara johnstad is concerned the hike will affect future hiring.. especially of high school students. "barbara johnstad: ultimately it'll hurt our ability to hire them as the minimum wage goes up. I won't be able to maintain the workforce. I'll try to keep the people I have. They have been with us a long time and very loyal" AT LOS CUATES IN SANDIA PARK.. "maria: what's the feeling going into.. Knowing that it's coming? I'm concerned."
